OnLine Rules (Expanded)            Feb 24, 08

I know some of you might not like what you read here.  But, I need to say it anyway.  I play online because I enjoy the online environment, and I enjoy the game.  However, some people go on line for different reasons, and sooner or later, these issues are bound to come up, so I thought I'd address them here.

I don't go on line just to talk.  If I wanted to just talk, I'd go to a chat room.  While chatting is part of being on line, I mostly want to go on adventures, quest, and see new things.  So, I'm not going to be your full-time chat buddy online.  Also, chatting about work or non-game issues takes away the "feel" of the game.  Please, when chatting on line, keep it in character and about the game.  If you have other things you want to talk about (the weather, work, non-game stuff), send me an email!

And speaking of chatting, please don't chat when I'm on a quest.  Gosh, I'm near death in a stressful situation or focused on a quest (even a simple one) and some people are asking, "How's the weather?" or "How was your day?" or other chatty things.  It's also frustrating to be running somewhere and have to stop every few steps to reply to someone or to have someone in the group stopping (or worse yet dying) because they are chatting.  Please wait until the quest is finished.  You can ask if I'm busy or not if you're not sure.  Or if you see I'm not busy, feel free to chat (in character and about the game only please).  But, if all you want to do is chat about non-game stuff, join a chat room and don't bug me.

I have no interest in online or virtual sex, so don't ask.

Please follow these rules and don't put me in a situation of telling you to go away for a bit and give me some breathing room.  In other words, we can hang around some, but don't be hanging around me all the time and sending me tells all the time.  And don't mope around if I don't quest with you all the time.  Go meet others and have fun!

I use online as entertainment.  It's an online fantasy world.  Simply put, no we will not eventually talk on the telephone and no we will not meet in real life and no I'm not looking for romance.  We can be great friends in the context of the game environment--and that's all.

When I leave game to log off a bit, I probably won't say "bye" very often, or if I do it will be Bye and then "gone" right away.  I have a lot of online friends.  If I said good bye to all of them and waited for them to reply back, I'd never be able to leave!

Bottom line and in a nutshell:  I'm there to play the game.  I'm not looking to chat or make a date or hang out with one person all the time... I'm just there to play the game and have fun.  If you send me a tell and I'm busy, I'll just have to ignore you.  Bringing up topics not about the game will get you put on my ignore list.

Rules (Simple)

  1. Keep chat about the game.
  2. Don't expect me to be with you all the time.
  3. Don't look for things from me outside the game (phone calls, real life visits, etc.).
  4. Don't do casual chat if I'm really busy.
  5. I probably won't say "bye" when I leave.
  6. I suggest you read the expanded rules to the left.
